As part of the nationwide Digital Day, Digital Week will take place in Bochum from June 22 to 26, 2026. Paula Weitz and Artur Solomonik from CAIS will take part with a workshop and a talk on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI).
How do social media and artificial intelligence influence our relationships and our interactions with one another? This question is at the heart of the event “Who Likes Us Offline?”, to which Vereint Bochum e. V. invites guests on July 8 at Schauspielhaus Bochum. CAIS researcher Prof. Hendrik Heuer will also be taking part.
On 11 June 2026, the Grimme Institute will host the discussion forum “Journalism: between objectivity, activism and awards” in Düsseldorf. CAIS researcher Christoph Bieber will join Ellen Heinrichs, Lars Rinsdorf and Çiğdem Uzunoğlu to discuss how public debates on social issues can be better facilitated. The focus is on constructive approaches to managing conflict, including shared rules and a renewed debate culture.
In his public inaugural lecture at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Johannes Breuer provides insights into his research on digital data and methods.
The Academic Freedom Forum in Bochum, taking place from June 9 to 11, 2026, focuses on the challenges facing universities in times of global crises. Central themes include academic freedom, human rights, and democratic values. CAIS researchers Dr. Mitra Shamsi and Dr. Tetiana Gorokhova contribute to the program through workshops and panels.
