Posting, liking, scrolling and at the same time feeling a longing for genuine closeness – many people experience this contradiction in their digital everyday lives. What impact do social media and artificial intelligence have on our relationships? Do we really feel that we belong despite being permanently connected? And what does real togetherness mean in an increasingly digitally shaped society?
These questions are the focus of the event “Who Likes Us Offline? An Evening About Real Togetherness Between Swiping, Scrolling and AI”, to which Vereint Bochum e.V. invites guests on July 8, 2026, at 7:30 PM in the Kammerspiele of Schauspielhaus Bochum.
Together with guests from academia, the arts and public life, current developments relating to digital communication, social relationships and social cohesion will be discussed. In addition to discussions and artistic contributions, the event offers space for exchange and reflection on what makes closeness difficult today and on the importance of being seen and heard.
Representing CAIS, Prof. Hendrik Heuer, Head of the Research Program “Design of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence,” will take part in the discussion. Other guests include Dr. Marie-Kristin Döbler (ISF Munich), singer and songwriter Joris, and freelance journalist Tessniem Kadiri. The event will be moderated by Bianca Hauda. The evening will be accompanied musically by Lina Maly.
