Vibe Coding: How AI Helps Journalists Develop Their Own Tools

As part of the Global Media Forum (GMF) 2026 hosted by Deutsche Welle on June 24, Besjon Cifliku will hold a practice-oriented workshop in which journalists use artificial intelligence (AI) to develop their own tools and learn the basics of vibe coding.

22. June 2026

Besjon Cifliku, a doctoral researcher in the CAIS research program “Design of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence,” will lead a practice-oriented workshop at the Global Media Forum of Deutsche Welle titled “No more waiting: Can AI help journalists build their own tools on the fly?”. The workshop will take place on June 24 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM in Room Berlin II.

The workshop demonstrates how journalists can use AI to develop their own digital tools for their daily work. The focus is on so-called “vibe coding” – an approach to AI-assisted tool development using prompts. Instead of relying on external developers or traditional software projects, journalists can design their own tools and adapt them to their workflows and needs.

The Global Media Forum 2026 brings together media professionals, researchers, as well as representatives from politics and civil society from around the world. This year it is held under the motto “Journalism out Loud.” The workshop is a partner session of CAIS as part of the GMF.
