In his public inaugural lecture at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Johannes Breuer provides insights into his research on digital data and methods.

On Wednesday, 10 June, Prof. Johannes Breuer, head of the CAIS research area “Research Data & Methods”, will hold his public inaugural lecture at the University of Duisburg-Essen on the occasion of his appointment as Professor of “Digital Social Sciences” at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The appointment of Johannes Breuer took place as part of a joint procedure by CAIS and the University of Duisburg-Essen.

The title of his lecture is “The 3,000,000? and the Special Case – Digital Social Sciences as Detective Work”. The lecture begins at 4 PM at the Gerhard Mercator House, Lotharstr. 57, 47057 Duisburg.

His main research interests include the use and effects of digital media, digital trace data, computational methods, and meta-science (especially questions concerning the reproducibility and replicability of research). He brings extensive methodological expertise, particularly in relation to new data types in digitalization research and open science.
