CAIS at Digital Week 2026 in Bochum

As part of the nationwide Digital Day, Digital Week will take place in Bochum from June 22 to 26, 2026. Paula Weitz and Artur Solomonik from CAIS will take part with a workshop and a talk on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI).

From June 22 to 26, 2026, Digital Week will take place in Bochum for the first time. The occasion is the nationwide Digital Day. With workshops, interactive activities, talks, and advisory services, the event invites participants to get to know digital technologies, try them out, and engage in discussions about the opportunities and challenges of digitalization. Digital Week is aimed at all interested parties and also offers specific formats for different target groups.

CAIS is also contributing to Digital Week with two program items:

City Lab on Tour: AI Tool Sprint: Trying out and understanding AI tools
Workshop on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, 5:30–7:30 PM
Dampfgebläsehaus at Jahrhunderthalle Bochum | Open to everybody

In the “AI Tool Sprint” at City Lab Bochum, participants can try out various AI tools themselves, gain initial experience, and discuss the opportunities, limitations, and possible applications of artificial intelligence together. The workshop is led by Paula Weitz from the Science Communication team at CAIS.

Digital Lunch Break: From rockets to bicycles: Application of AI in public administration
Talk on Thursday, June 25, 2026
Only for administrative staff of the City of Bochum

The talk by Artur Solomonik, doctoral researcher in the CAIS research program “Design of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence,” highlights the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in public administration. The focus is on practical applications as well as the responsible handling of sensitive data. The aim is to provide a clear and practice-oriented understanding of modern AI systems that supports and relieves employees in their work.
