SUMMARY:Module 2: Workshop: Open Research – Principles\, Practices\, and Implementation
DESCRIPTION:When: Tuesday\, September 3\, 2024\, 09:00-17:00 \nWhere: hybrid (Weizenbaum Institute & Online) \nWorkshop Lead: Tobias Dienlin \nThis workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to open research\, equipping participants with the skills to implement and advocate for open research practices. In the first half of the workshop\, participants will explore the principles of open research\, the replication crisis\, and the benefits of transparency and reproducibility. Practical sessions will cover sharing research materials\, data\, and analyses\, as well as creating an Open Science Framework (OSF) project. \nIn the latter half\, the focus shifts to preregistrations\, registered reports\, publishing preprints and postprints\, the Transparency and Openness Promotion (TOP) Guidelines\, and initiatives such as DORA\, CORA\, and RESQUE. Interactive elements include drafting preregistration plans and discussions on incentives and roadblocks for open research. \nThe workshop encourages participants to share their experiences\, challenges\, and own current projects. By the end\, participants will be prepared to integrate open research practices into their research\, contributing to a more open\, transparent\, and robust research community. \n  \nAbout the workshop lead: \nTobias Dienlin is an Assistant Professor of Interactive Communication\, working at the Department of Communication at University of Vienna. His main research interests include privacy and well-being\, both with a focus on digital media\, and all things open science.
